Party!

Alekisio wanted a yellow spaceship cake. Cake decorating is not easy. I think I did alright but Alekisio and the kids loved it and that's all that matters.
Those are some of the kids that came. It was a relaxed BBQ so people came in shifts. Those are his friends from church and the girls all live in our building.
You can't see it that well but his left eye is puffy in the lower corner. While at his party he managed to get nailed with a boogie board, scrape his stomach up, and stub his toe.
This is how he looked when we got home. He was pooped, and so was I. He played in the water the entire time. At the end though I saw him and then turned around and he was gone. I was running to the water and didn't see him, I wasn't worried he would drown because the area we were in was shallow really far out and doesn't have waves, I just wanted him to be there and not in the rest of the park where all the parties are because he would be harder to find. He wasn't there so I got nervous until I saw him coming back with Aisea. My first reaction was to get mad and spank him so he would never do that again. Instead when I saw him all I could do is hug him and tell him how scared I was that someone took him and hurt him. He started to cry and I was crying. I've never been so scared in my life, I don't think I can even describe it. It's a feeling that you have to experience yourself to know what it's like, just like how it feels to love your own child. The fear and then the relief of knowing he was safe made me think of how our Father in Heaven must feel when we stray and then come back. It's indescribable. I never want to feel that again. Other than that it was a great party. He got to hang out with his friends, and I got to get to know people from church a little better.

G G Grandma would be proud!

The picture above is my first attempt at making my GG Grandma's macaroni salad. Just to help you pronounce her name you say the letter g twice. I don't know why but when I was little I started calling my great grandma by that name. Anyway on my mom's side of the family my mom is the one who always made the macaroni salad because she made it the way grandpa and GG grandma liked it best. My aunt makes it just as well but she likes real mayo and my mom likes miracle whip and everyone likes it tangy from the miracle whip. I was so afraid of mixing the vinegar, milk, sugar, and other things the wrong way I never tried until Alekisio's party. I bought everything and called my mom while I was mixing it all. It's hard to follow a recipe that has no measurements and I didn't trust my taste buds to know what to add more of. But I did it!!!!!! It was so GOOD! I can't wait to teach my kids how to make it!

Uncle Walter the pirate?

Yesterday Alekisio was digging through the scrapbooking box I still need to organize. He repeatedly got in trouble for it but of course that never detours him from doing what he wants. The last time I found him in my room he had taken out Walter's navy portrait and it was all wrinkled. Instead of getting mad I said, "Oh you were looking at Uncle Walter, he's on the big boat remember?" To which he replied, "He's a pirate?" I told him he's not a pirate but when they find pirates they take them to jail. He was really happy about that explanation. Later that night he and Aisea were in the room and I heard him say,"You wanna see my Uncle Walter?"
Aisea said "No going in the box," Alekisio then told him, "Uncle Walter catches the bad pirates and takes them to jail." I called Walter to tell him and he thought it was funny but to tell Sio he really works on aircraft. So I told Sio Uncle Walter fixes the fast airplanes too. He said,"Okay." He thinks that's pretty cool too, but when your new obsession is Peter Pan there's nothing cooler than an uncle who catches pirates!

Four months old

Isabelle also got another month older in all this chaos. She weighed in at 14 lbs 1 oz, and 26 inches long. She also adores her brother and watches everything he does.

All about Alekisio

Alekisio just turned three on the 15th. I can't believe he's that old! I realized that he is growing up and loving to play with his friend's transformers and matchbox cars. Looking at his toys I knew I needed to start upgrading from toddler toys. So for his bday he got transformers and matchbox cars. We also got the thomas the tank engine table I bought at a garage sale out of storage. He spent two days doing nothing but making tracks. We're going to have a bbq at the beach party for him on the 26th, and he requested a yellow spaceship bday cake. I guess I need to start learning how to decorate cakes, at a novis level of course. Oh how I long to live by Missy so she can make my cakes for me!;) I found a really easy idea online though so I'll be fine. I just need to dig out my white frosting recipe. I'm a little nervous about being in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly and that it's not a flop of a party, but I'm sure he'll have fun. So until then enjoy pics of him no his actual birthday.

Toes taste good!

Fourth of July

This fourth of July I was excited because Alekisio I had a kitchen to bake in! We made little angel food cakes with cool whip and berries to make a flag. I showed Alekisio one and then he made his. We were going to take them to the families who helped us move. As we were walking over with the little cakes Alekisio sneezed on his. I hadn't covered them with saran wrap since they just live down a floor. He was so proud of what he made I was just going to tell them not to eat that one, but they weren't home. We spent the day at a friend's were they swam and I watched Isabelle sleep. Since we didn't get to the park at 6 am to claim parking and a spot for fireworks Alekisio had to settle for watching the people in the house behind us set of fireworks in the road when we got home. Lucky for us that was good enough for him. I want him to grow up appreciating our country and the freedom that we have. On this island we are surrounded by those who serve our country, and I've been able to gain a greater appreciation for everything they do for us. I'll never forget the day I was watching the news and they showed a picture of a soldier stationed here that had just died in Iraq. I knew him, and it took awhile for that to sink in. I love this country and I feel that whether or not you agree with the president's choices, or the war that we're in, you should support him and those that put their lives on the line daily so that we can have freedom. On a lighter note here is Alekisio showing off his creation.

Isabelle rolls like a pro!

This picture was just after Isabelle rolled over for the first time. We were so proud, and now every time I lay her on the floor she rolls right over. It happened July 3rd. That's just so I don't forget. She's also getting really irritated when she can't pick up or reach a toy, so there's alot of whining going on around here lately. Luckily she's found her thumb so putting her to bed is much easier, and she's learning to soothe herself.
My friend Cheryl was over helping me put the kids room together a little and Isabelle was really fussy, so Cheryl took that pink pig and was rubbing it on her cheek. Isabelle's eyes instantly rolled back in her head and she fell asleep. Every time we made a noise she would grab the pig and then relax. It was really funny.

A little about our move

On the first we moved out of our apartment. Aisea started by himself, and then his friend came. As they were moving some of the guys from our ward saw them and joined in. It didn't take very long at all. The house is pretty much unpacked but still needs to be organized and put the way I want it. Between the kids and cleaning the other house I've been extremely worn out. My brain isn't functioning properly and I'm too tired to hold a real conversation most of the time. We were checked out of our apartment on monday. We needed to repaint the hallway because our baby gates had ripped the paint and sio touched the walls so much they were uncleanable. I thought we would be nice and repaint the whole apartment, we also had replaced the floor in the bathroom/closet area(it only cost 14.00 for the floor). Now I wish I hadn't been so nice. They're charging us to fix a corner of the bathtub. When we moved in there was what looked like a chip in the enamel. I didn't notice it for awhile. Then a little rust started forming and I thought it was because I had left my shave gel in the corner for a few days instead of on the shelf. Aplumber came to fix something and he told me that the rust was from a crck in the tub, and when I looked closely I realized that little chip was actually a crack. I didn't think that was a big deal since there were places in the bottom of the tub where the enamel had worn away from natural wear. But no, since I didn't report it within five days of moving in we have to pay for it. The drapes covering the lanai doors have to be replaced also so I feel like as soon as I'm completely finished with these awful realtors my headache will go away. They're remodeling the bathroom anyway so they really don't need to charge for that they're just greedy. And they don't care we were living with a kitchen that was falling apart for 2 1/2 years. They're lucky I'm too nice to tell them what I think of them. On the upside we now have a kitchen big enough to eat in and I make dinner every night! They've even been getting desert!

Oh and just so you have an idea of what a cave we were living in Alekisio would stand at the front door for the first few days and nights and say, "Mommy I can see the sky." I had to laugh.

Sio's post

The post below is from alekisio. I couldn't decide where to start with our posts since we haven't had internet for so long so I went to put in some laundry, and he's bored, so he decided to touch the computer.
