Beach Babies

A few weeks ago our friends were moving so we picked up their son Mordecai and went to the beach. Sometimes I get frustrated that the beach is pretty much the only thing to do here but the kids don't care. It was a great day for the beach. Alekisio is getting really great at floating and swimming. I think the goggles must have a secret power because before he put them on he would't even try floating. We let him choose a pair of goggles, went to the beach, and now he won't stop. He's still not confident enough to venture into deeper areas where he can't touch the ground, but it won't be that long, and I don't mind because I don't have to worry about him getting too brave and going too far. He played with Mordecai, after the initial fighting and aggravating was finished, and there was a man there that tried to show them how to ride a wave to shore. Alekisio's still working on that one, he was frustrated because he wasn't able to start swimming in time to catch the wave. Isabelle just loves to dig in the sand and play on the shoreline. She's getting chunky and I love it. Her little legs are so chunky and I love it when she runs.
By the end of beachtime they were ready to shower and snack. Mordecai now lives farther away so we don't see them as much. We miss you guys!

Apple pie pockets

Aren't these super cute!!!! I saw this mold on someone's blog and thought it would be really cute to use for my visiting teaching sisters since it's fall. I don't know how to make apple pie so I just used a can until I learn but I did make the crust and it was yummy!

Mini tennis pro

Alekisio has been taking tennis lessons since june. He loves it. At first he was in his own world. If he missed a ball instead of just waiting for the coach to toss another one he would run after it. When he did hit it he swung like a baseball player, balls were flying left and right over the fence. To Alekisio of course that's the best part and weeks into lessons he was still saying he wanted to hit it over the fence. After correcting his swing repeatedly he's hitting like a pro. His coach just told me last week he's hitting really well. The coaches are great Coach West is the female coach in the picture below, she's great at getting him to hit the right way. But Alekisio's favorite coach is Coach Frank. I think it's because Coach Frank always does the fun exercises for hand eye coordination. He's really patient, even when he's got four four year old boys running around not paying attention. Tennis is Alekisio's favorite part of the whole week. I can't tell him it's tennis day or he won't take a nap. I don't know if you can tell in these pictures but Sio sweats like a mad man. He takes water breaks between water breaks. He never complains or stops moving though. I don't think Isabelle likes tennis as much because she gets strapped into the stroller and parked in the shade. I've tried to let her out but she gets in the way and whacked in the head with swinging rackets. I spend the hour picking up tennis balls to keep the baskets full, and tossing balls to the kids. Alekisio loves tennis and he seems to be a natural when it comes to sports. Maybe one day he'll make millions, hey, a mom can dream can't she?
