Sio's first stitches!

Warning: If you have a weak stomach don't scroll down!

What's a holiday without a trip to the ER? I hope this doesn't become a tradition! Yesterday after dinner but before dessert Alekisio was playing football and backed into a tree and fell somehow. Aisea said he went,"Oh my arm," and continued to play. Then Aisea got a glimpse of blood flowing down his arm and of course took a look to see this:

This is the clean picture taken in the hospital. I of course got a quick look headed and said we need stitches. Alekisio started screaming at the thought and Aisea being the tough dad that he is said no they'd just bandage it up. Who would have thought I'd be the one holding him down for shots and stitches and not the big tough rugby player. I thank my tough no nonsense mom for that. Anyway I called the hospital and as soon as I said you could see fat(the yellow stuff) the nurse said he had to come in. We bandaged him up, ate dessert of course, and headed to the ER. Sio wasn't too happy about that since daddy had said no stitches but I told him they were just going to look at it and he may or may not get stitches, but they would clean it. I took Sio in while Aisea came home with Isabelle. As soon as the intake nurse brought us back Alekisio was in my lap shaking violently. He kept asking the same questions over and over,"Are you going to give me a shot?", "Can you just use the glue stitches?", and just questioning every movement in general. When the nurse came in to look he asked all of the above and more again, and to the doctor also. However when Sio mentioned the glue to the doctor he said,"Well we'll fix it." So I knew I had to break his heart and tell him that he was going to get stitches and explain what numbing is. Alekisio wasn't buying the whole numbing concept. After they did the topical ointment the doctor came in with the needles and the,"What's that?","What are you doing with that?" started. We were thunb wrestling which Sio thought was hilarious so the doctor told us to keep playing while he fixed Sio's arm. Alekisio had to keep peeking and just as the needle was almost to his skin he peeked and flipped out. The doctor moved the needle quickly and told him we can either get some really big guys to hold him down or he can sit nicely but no one wants to get stabbed with that needle. So we tried again, thumb wrestling was now out of the picture, and Sio jumped again. The doctor said ok I'll go get the guys so Alekisio said,"No I'll be brave," stuck his arm out, I covered his eyes, and the doctor numbed him while having a death grip on Sio's wrist. I know this because Sio's hand turned bright red. While he was doing it he told Alekisio he would show him magic so after we had all let go the doc. showed him the needle and said,"This is really sharp right? Watch." When that needle headed toward his arm again I got a little scared but Sio sat still while the doctor touched around the cut smiled because he now understood was being numb was. After that he layed there nicely on his own while the doctor cleaned and stitched him up. The only scare he had was when the doctor picked up the thread with scissors. Alekisio's eyes got big and he said," Are you going to cut me?" I was laughing a little. Luckily he didn't see the little needle. Judging from the scared legs, scraped knee, and scraped eye, the doctor decided to leave the stitches in for 12 not 10 days because he said he didn't trust Sio. Again I was laughing a little. Once they put the bandage on Alekisio was holding up his arm saying,"I was so brave!" to anyone who passed. As soon as we left the hospital he was calling Uncle Walter to tell him all about it. I have an sneaking suspicion that the ER hasn't seen the last of Alekisio!

Alekisio's primary lesson

I just went in the kitchen where Alekisio was eating his noodles. This was the conversation.
Sio: So how was your day?
Me: Great, what did you learn in class today?
Sio:They had cheerios, and they gave me one cause I said the right fing.
Me:What did you say?
Sio: Baftise embelope
Me: Is that what you learned about?
Sio: Yeah, my teacher told us about baftise embelope.

He makes me melt! I just love how seriously he said that, and how hard he was thinking and trying to say baptism envelope. I don't know what that is but they were obviously learning about baptism and were using an envelope as an aid somehow. He's just too cute!

Alekisio loves water and goggles. I was outside hanging the clothes on the line when I looked over and he was dunking his head in the bucket that catches the AC water. He asked if he could get his goggles and spent a good five minutes dunking his face. I kept checking just to make sure he didn't drown himself, he's starting to stay under for awhile. When he was done dunking himself he started "washing" his clothes in a bucket in the back sink. He was taking it very seriously. That kept him busy for 30 min, then Isabelle woke up and of course wanted to do it, but there wasn't alot of space so fighting ensued and they had to be broken up.

My little Isabelle

My sweet girl is really coming into her own personality. She plays well by herself but she loves to sit on my lap and read, or follow her brother around doing whatever he's doing, usually that frustrates him but he's getting better at letting her mess up whatever he's playing with. It's the curse of being the oldest. Isabelle is also really good at helping me bake. She's really great at pouring in the ingredients without spilling them which really surprised me. Her favorite part was of course licking the spoon, which kept making it's way back in the topping for more. Poor Isabelle is allergic to eggs and nuts so she doesn't get to eat the cheesecake, which is chalk full of eggs, but she loves the sour cream topping!

She's really starting to talk and I just love how she says things.
Shio-Sio
shome-some
chichen-chicken
Her face is so expressive, and when she gets bossy it's really funny. Lately she waves her little hand and tells us,"Come!". I feel like I just can't cuddle and kiss her enough!

Halloween Take Two!

I know it's kind of late, I haven't been great about getting the kid's lives on here but I'm trying. For halloween we went to the Yates' house. The kids had a blast. Luckily they weren't as concerned about trick or treating as they were about playing around. They played on the red dirt hill in the back, got tattoos, ate yummy food, hit enough houses for candy to make them happy, and hit a pinata, and tried to eat donuts with no hands. That's Alekisio trying to get the donut that fell on the ground with no hands, lol. Isabelle was in her own little world. She runs behind the older kids but eventually she just does her own thing. As you can see she enjoyed sweeping the sidewalk. The funniest part was when they did the pinata, Isabelle was the first one to hit and she wouldn't let go of the bat. I was surprised at how well she could swing, watch out Alekisio! Of course I wouldn't be my mother's child if I didn't forget something, and it was her sparkly Minnie ears. Her feet of course outgrew the sparkly pink shoes before halloween but she was still super cute with the white bloomers. Alekisio was wolverine, and now everyday is halloween! We get alot of use out of costumes. It was a great holiday. I especially enjoyed it because Aisea kind of watched over Isabelle, not that she goes far anyway, and Alekisio is at the age where he doesn't run off and he plays well with the other kids, so I got to visit with my friends and feel like I was at a party!

Alekisio

Aisea recently taught Alekisio a little hula when they were playing around. It's the cutest and funniest thing. Alekisio calls it "my hula". He says, "Mom can I show them my hula?" He claps his hands and strikes the above pose while shaking his knees as fast as he can. He switches back and forth from left to right. I need to get a video but this should do for now.

Halloween Take one

This year for halloween our ward(church) primary decided to have a scripture themed party. We were to dress as a member of Lehi's family, from the Book of Mormon. Basically dressed like we were from Jerusalem in 600 BC. Anyway Sio wanted to be Nephi so I got semi crafty and made an outfit out of an old pillowcase. He was so cute, and he even kept his headband on. I was pretty happy with how it turned out. Alekiiso was too, that sunday he wanted to wear the headband so "everybody will fink I'm cute." That's what he told me. It's amazing at this young age that he's very aware of when people praise him and wants to keep doing it. He was so cute at the party. I think the party was a great idea. They pinned apples on a tree, shot a bow and arrow at some deer, blew ships with straws, made journals, and built ships with straws and plastic bottles. Alekisio really just wanted to play with the bow and arrow all night. Crazy right?

I just had to stick this picture of Isabelle in this post. This is the face she makes when she's playing with a bunch of older kids who aren't really playing with her, but she joins the screaming as loudly as she can.

This is Alekisio with his friend Kobey. Wow can they get crazy when they get together.
